PlateGrate_Unengraved

Description

This is the **unengraved** version of the tool that lacks my name and PlateGrate engraved into it. I have not had issues with the quality or strength being impacted by the engravement, but I do not want my pride to stand in the way of functionality-- and thus this version was submitted separately. *** Do you need to count spores or colonies on typical 100x15mm size petri dishes? Would you like to avoid spending **hundreds** of dollars on the commercial stickers, but do not want to waste hours with a ruler and marker? If so, this creation may help you. The PlateGrate was designed to fit fairly snugly on the bottoms of ThermoFisher 100x15 mm standard plates. The empty spaces in the design are intended to have marker run through them. After one step of drawing a series of parallel lines, simply rotate the design 90 degrees (aided by the "crosshair" in the center) and draw the perpendicular set of lines! I have not experienced many issues with contamination, but if this is a problem, consider looking into thermally or chemically resistant materials. This was designed to work with the TUL brand of marker tip found at either Office Max or Office Depot. If this is preventative for your work, please reach out and maybe we can work something out. These PlateGrates may experience a lot of marker on them throughout the course of use. I have found that soaking for a short period of time in 95% EtOH typically removes most of the marks after 1-3 rinse cycles. Unfortunately, I have very little experience with FreeCAD and 3D Printing. I had this printed commercially elsewhere, so I cannot advise you on printing suppliers, settings, etc. Enjoy this and feel free to edit and improve upon this, given the License requirements are met: - Attribution: I don't expect this to make me famous or rich, but it would be nice to see if I can help the scientific community to make cheap and useful tools to advance research! - NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes.
