Ender 3 S1 Drawer Insert MkIII
Description
This part is an excellent design created by gumo_design, remixed two times by desertgeek, and now remixed by me. My thing mostly features reduced amount of material used by about 13%, equal printing time and polished details in the modelling, like quotes and tolerances (read below for details), modified or added chamfers and fillets. The design / layout is still mostly desergeek's, I had a good base to work on. I liked how the compartments were designed but I completeley remodeled everything in Solidworks because I didn't like the raised floor of the nippers' section, so I put it flush with the other comparments to reduce the amount of material used. I also didn't like some of the dimensions of desertgeek's model, perhaps they were not in metric so when i remodeled I took all new measurements with a caliper and tweaked some tolerances. I also polished some minor details like edges that didn't come together at the same vertex, compartment walls that weren't perfectly centered, minor stuff really. I added fillets everywhere to improve layer adesion and to remove sharp edges so that the printer doesn't have to slow down as much as for a 90° sharp corner, slightly reducing printing time and stress on the printer. I added a chamfer to reduce the amount of supports and increment strength of the overhang bits. I reccomend printing between 0.2 and 0.28 layer height since it is not an extreme precision part and it will reduce your print time and amount of material used. I printed a 0.28 and the part fits really well without wiggling or any defects. I included all sorts of files (3mf, sldprt, step, stl) so that you can modify it or print it as you like. Keep in mind that this part was designed at 3am and I am human so there is still probably some room for improvements, feel free to remix it, I look forward for a Mk IV version.
