Traxxas TRX-1 Front Bulkhead Set

Traxxas TRX-1 Front Bulkhead Set

Description

Front bulkhead set (2731) for the Traxxas TRX-1. The original design is basically the same part as what was used on the Eagle/Hawk/Rad series of vehicles, except split into two pieces. I have a modified/remixed version posted based on files that I found on GrabCAD, but that file would likely not yield great results (see NOTE below). Fun fact: The TRX-1 has the exact same bulkhead width (when mounted to the chassis) as the TRX-3/TCP. I took the original part and modified to make it a little simpler to print and also design. There is draft in original part in two directions of the part for molding purposes. I removed the vertical draft but kept the fore-aft draft (which is required to have sufficient material around the shock tower mounting screws). I also removed the down-stop feature. It can be added back in if requested. This was removed on later generations (TRX-3 / SRT / Rustler / Bandit). Ream the hinge pin holes with a 1/8" drill bit. Tap the body mount and shock mount areas with a M3 tap. Tap the chassis mounting holes with a M4 tap. I did not extend the hole as deep in the rear mounting hole (it is 8 mm deep), so I would suggest using M4X10 screws. NOTE: Why did I not just modify the original Eagle bulkhead you ask? The original file was started by someone else, which was nice, but the measurements were wrong pretty much everywhere. The original file was "close" on hole spacing but not correct - in ways that would not make it compatible. I tried to patch up the file as best I could, but I was leveraging a non-parametric file. At some point I will get back to the original Eagle bulkhead and remodel it. I focused primarily on making the file work but after completing these I need to go back and create a new version. UPDATE 09/13/22: I found an error in the body mount spacing portion of the bulkhead (mis-typed the measurements). The original would have been off by ~0.5 mm. I also adjusted around the rear mount area to improve clearance to the shock tower. The original design would have worked in this space, but I have reduced the height slightly and added a round which should improve clearance. I have increased the hole depth as well. UPDATE 09/14/22: Hole spacing adjusted on top side of bulkhead (fore-aft). This should more closely match the original (within 0.5 mm). UPDATE 09/18/22: I found an error while modeling the TRX-1 chassis. Hole spacing for the M4 holes was off by 0.5 mm (should have completed the sub assembly first before posting - apologies!). It is fixed in V4.
