Description
These three items combined will make your metal garage door look like a Mausoleum wall. Customizable niche plaque. Rectangle, cross, cross with decorative trim. Optional integrated photo frame for pasting a 2D printed image or importing an SVG. Holes in back for gluing in 8mm x 3mm magnets. Can print in a single color and manually apply rub and buff to the top layer; or print on a single extruder and perform a filament change after the main surface layer is complete (I use a plugin to pause the print and eject the filament at a specified layer. Use the preview in the slicer to determine the correct layer. Layer 24 in the provided examples). If loading an SVG image for the integrated frame, this error is possible if the SVG can't be used: "ERROR: The given mesh is not closed! Unable to convert to CGAL_Nef_Polyhedron." I have had some luck with converting basic PNGs to SVGs and having them import successfully. Small vase with a flat back. 112mm tall. Should be small enough to clear the garage door when opening. Small drain hole in the bottom (in case it takes on water). Holes in the back to insert two to four 8mm x 3mm magnets. Trim/Cut plastic flowers from a dollar store. I used E6000 to glue the magnets in place. You may to clamp them while curing on the photo frame base to prevent them from popping out. I highly recommend downloading and installing OpenSCAD rather than using the Thingiverse customizer. By unchecking "disableBorder" you'll be able to see a nice preview while playing with the settings locally. Just in case you decide to use the Thingiverse customizer, make sure "Thingiverse" is selected for "fontSelection". Having DecorativeFrame enabled or importing an SVG will greatly increase the rendering/processing time. I've tested with filament changes from black to silk gold. Spray paint. And gold rub n' buff. The gold PLA filament I used, didn't come out good for the top layer until I switched on "Ironing Ironing" and "Iron only top most layers".
