Ling Sound Puzzle

Ling Sound Puzzle

Description

With grant funding from the NJ State Library and IMLS the Mountain Lakes Public Library developed a "ling" sound puzzle with its partner Sound Start Babies. Working with Sound Start educators Kayley Mayer and Ellie Habib, we created a unique puzzle to help educators and families practice important sound groups with their young children. Thank you to Jackie Edwards, who assisted with the design at the beginning of the design process. Thank you to Richard He, who was instrumental in refining flexible filament settings for the puzzles and printing puzzles too. Thank you Noun Project, nounproject.com, for providing high quality icons that made it easy to discuss and identify excellent sound icons. Thank you Tinkercad for providing a unique design platform. This was a true collaboration between student designers, educators, and a public library - working together to create an engaging learning resource. Printing: Printing is standard with PLA. Printing with flexible filament is more challenging. Not every printer prints with flexible filament (TPU) well. Please check your printer's documentation. Best Practice Flexible Filaments Notes: --Print slow: between 25 - 35 mm/second --Retraction length: set between 0 and .8 mm --Retraction speed: set between 25 and 35 mm / second --Extruder temp: Make sure to check your filament; most likely between 220 - 235 degrees Celcius Please email Ian Matty at LakerMakersClub@gmail.com for more information.
