Motion Pro 08-0229 idle adjuster gear cover

Description

If you have a Motion Pro 08-0229 adjustment tool you have likely experienced a situation where the gears tend to lock up or get snagged on things. The solution for the lock up is to place a thin shim behind the input (adjustment knob) gear to engage the output gear a little tighter, and most importantly to lubricate the gears. For lubrication I have found wheel bearing grease to be the best. But... then the grease will get all over anything the gear end touches. Also, the gear teeth can easily get snagged on anything in the vicinity of the carburetor adjustment. On one of my bikes in particular this is a real problem for the middle carbs because of the bowl drain tubes. So I designed three versions of a cover. One has a closed end to help retain the grease, and has a taper to it. Another has an open end so you can pack it with grease more easily while still shielding the gears. A third is like the first but with a rounded end rather than a tapered one so more grease can be applied and retained. Personally I like the one with the closed and tapered end best, but you may like one of the others better. These covers solve an annoying deficiency in an otherwise great tool. I hope one of the versions works for you. Thanks for looking.
