AA and AAA battery holder no jam
Description
This is a remix of a the battery holder by fafabienman that many others have remixed but it seems none have really fixed the jamming issue: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3358129 The original version design suffered from the batteries jamming (especially the AA's) after just pulling 2 or 3 batteries. Comments said to print at 102% size which I did but that still didn't fix the issues so I wasted time printing it twice. I took that model and adjusted the ramp that the batteries slide down and gave it kind of a curve which seems to have fixed the jamming issue with the trade off of slightly reducing the overall capacity. I think if I offset the ramp the opposite direction towards the back instead of front, it may have the same effect of not jamming but with greater capacity so I will try that soon and update if that works. This was printed using CHEP's extra fast profile which has a 0.28 resolution and some other settings changes under the hood that I'm not quite sure of. If you print with standard settings, it will surely come out cleaner than mine but will take approximately 14 hours using a stock Ender 3 Pro. Here is a video straight after printing and loading with batteries showing the batteries being pulled without jamming (*filming with one hand): https://youtu.be/zD4XuI3zIMo I printed this using CHEP's extra fast profile which was just under 5 hours using custom supports (google custom supports plug in Cura if you aren't familiar) only under the overhangs where the batteries pop out. YOU DO NOT NEED SUPPORTS BUT THE OVERHANG WILL SAG A LITTLE IF YOU DON'T. This is purely utility so the supports are not necessary and printing without them will not affect the function of the holder. Also, I printed this twice and each time got weird stringing and am not sure if that's due to the poor topology or printing at non-standard settings. Either way, the stringing didn't affect anything. You can see in the video where I remove the minimal stringing directly after pulling the print off the bed. I will re-topologize this in the future. Importing STLs into blender, I find the topology is always so weird so it's hard to adjust models without getting dirty with the knife tool and I kind of rushed this. For CHEP's extra fast profile, google those words or follow this youtube link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM_jdsx5yFc&t=19s I've printed this twice, once without supports which worked great but I wanted the front overhangs to look cleaner so I printed it again with the custom supports pictured. Both models didn't suffer from the jamming issue. Thanks. Please comment and post makes if it works for you too!
