LS16340 3.7V Li-ion Battery Holder

LS16340 3.7V Li-ion Battery Holder

Description

This combination is used to replace the CR2032 button cell battery on the Rigel Quickfinder and could be used in place some applications where this size of button cell is used. Particularly, the Rigel Quickfinder is a Telrad finder device for astronomy applications. If you know what it is, great. If you don't, you really don't need one. The Rigel is great finder for small telescopes or mounted binoculars where both weight and size are a concern. Many users prefer the Rigel and/or Telrad to more expensive red dot finders, as their brightness can be adjusted for both daytime and dark adapted eyes. The Rigel in particular has a pulse mode that alternates off and on, for aiming to particularly dim objects. Neither is a substitute for a Finder Scope, and are often used in conjunction with them. That being said. The biggest shortcoming of the Rigel is its use of a single 3.7V CR2032 button cell for its power supply. An optional power pack is available, however. Because I carry in my astronomy tool box spare rechargeable LS16340 3.7V Lithium Ion batteries which are typically used in laser pointers. These have an Amp hour rating from 300mAh to over 2Ah...In other words, many times the energy capacity of the CR2032. The battery holder itself also has an integrated battery cut-off switch which properly removes contact from the + terminal of the battery. The design is a quick print and can be finished with simple hardware available at most any hardware store. This is printed in PETG for dimensional accuracy.
