TTm 1/120 - Spreewaldbahn 901-212 and 901-213 narrow gauge passenger cars

Description

You should not print the do_not_print version! If you print these designs, _please_ post your make, comment or just tell me. I don't need many of the cars and a lot improvements of the 3D files and documentation are only made to give _you_ better results. At the moment one print of the 901-213 is built and primed. I use the prints of the 901-212 to test improvements. So be patient and wait some days before you collect the parts and print. --- ###History Four nearly identical coaches were built in 1928 in Gotha for the Spreewaldbahn, a 1000mm narrow gauge railway between Cottbus and Lübben (Germany). After being added to the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) they got the numbers from 901-211 to 901-214. These wagons were wider than usual narrow gauge coaches - 2.90m (maybe 2.94m), so they are not as cute as they could be. Two of them (212 and 213) were reconstructed in the 1950s(?) with less and larger windows. Here we have a design with both reconstructed wagons: * 901-212 with toilet (smaller, white window in the middle) and * 901-213 without toilet Have a look at source [2], if you want to visit the two unreconstructed and the surviving reconstructed coach 213. If you know, where the number 901-212 is -- please tell them. According to a personal mail conversation the size of the reconstructed and original wagons don't differ. We didn't find any blueprint of the 901-212 or 213. For interior I used a blueprint in H0 scale in [7] of the car 211. I think, both of my created interiors are plausible. --- ###Printing Parts with 212 or 213 in file name are only for the specified model. The 21x parts are for both. To make it less complex, look for couplings and coupling plates on my older designs. You need for 901-212: * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_prn-side\_wall.stl * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_212\_prn-side\_wall.stl (side with toilet window) * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_212\_furniture.stl front side depending on roof pick version A or B * TTm\_Spreewald\_902\_21x\_front\_A\_001.stl * TTm\_Spreewald\_902\_21x\_front\_A\_002.stl or the version C for C and D roofs > Depending on the roof you choose the front sides with or without a hook. The original roof is thin. Roof: (maybe make it from a sheet of brass) * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_roof\_A\_print\_on\_top.stl (version A) > could work, but if supports stick ... no fun * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_roof\_B\_full\_material.stl (version B) > version I used for my very first try, it works but requires much manual carving * TTm\_Spreewald\_901-21x\_roof\_C\_with\_small\_supports\_and\_ventilation.stl > was a nice idea to add a lot of 0.4mm supports but.... just trying * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_roof\_D\_massiv\_center\_comlete.stl * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_roof\_D\_massiv\_center\_comlete\_lt.stl > not my design favourite, but could be the easiest version to print with 2 types of additional support material at the ends. After some tries i printed the lt version for 212 with al little more flow at the beginning. * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_parts\_for\_roof.stl (only for roof version A or a sheet metal version) > I print the roof with 0.5mm layer. If you use a PLA printer, like me, I'd print the roof without air ventilation and chimney and upside down. Add supports - you have to sand the rounded roof anyway and you have much less trouble. I did the "full ... " first and the work after this not funny. Keep in mind, there is a reason, I added more than one roof ..... Frame * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_Wheelbearing\_S1.stl * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_Wheelbearing\_S2.stl * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_Frame.stl Finally (but I would replace with some brass) * TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_handrails.stl I hope the list was not too confusing. If you want to create the 213 switch the 212 to 213 parts. It isn't an easy print. I advice to use rafts for the frame parts and a layer height of 0.12 to 0.16 for the bearings, they don't loose much, but I had less problems. --- ###Building For 901-213 cut the waste pipe at the bottom, there is no toilet. Hints for upper part: - Keep an eye on the pictures, the front sides are not identical. The side parts are mirrored and differ in the position of the vertical bar. - Use the chimney and the bar between window 3 and 4 as orientation - 3 windows, bar on sides & chimney, 2 windows - small wall beneath the door = one seat = oven & chimney Hints for lower part: - The interiors (different variants for 212 and 213!) can be glued on the frame / floor plate Make the grab handles from wire - the holes in platform floor and roof are for orientation. If I wouldn't published this there and there were no need for hint, I would: - make the roof from a sheet of metal. - make the hand rails from brass and I will post some videos on [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@tomeks_ttm) and pictures on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/tomeks_ttm/) --- ###Updates 20221108: played with roof D, hoped it will print better. Differences between TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_roof\_D\_massiv\_center\_comlete.stl and TTm\_Spreewald\_901\_21x\_roof\_D\_massiv\_center\_comlete\_lt.stl is additional wasted material for better plate contact at the first .... --- ###Origin and licensing For technical drawings of wagon 211 look at the sources below, I searched for a source for 213/212 but didn't found one. The size of the wagons is the same. Position and size of the windows were calculated from several pictures. You are free to print and rescale my work for your projects, close friends and your model railway club. I don't want any commercial use of this design and prints. If you are representing a model or railway club, a school or something comparable with these and want to use it for educational purposes in higher numbers, please tell me. --- ###Sources and more literature BTW: The journal "der modelleisenbahner" is available online at several places, like archive.org.
