Makita RT0700 cyclonic dust shoe

Makita RT0700 cyclonic dust shoe

Description

I have used several dust shoe designs that sort of worked and decided to try a different approach. The Makita router has an internal fan to cool the router that blows air downwards onto the surface being cut. This resulted in a lot of dust being blown away. I noticed a pattern in how the dust was being moved and thought I would try to take advantage of that by changing the direction of the airflow by angling the vacuum to a steep angle to see if it improved the dust collection. It certainly did! I know every diy CNC setup is different. I have included the Fusion 360 design file in the download for anyone who wants to remix the file. There is a thin groove where the bristles can be glued. I bought a broom head at the local dollar store and harvested the bristles. The groove is 0.6 mm.
