Groningse Tripklomp (Dutch Clog)

Groningse Tripklomp (Dutch Clog)

Description

A scan of a mens' tripklomp made by Van Der Meulen Klompen, in Eenrum, Netherlands. This one is size 28, measured in centimetres. If you get your foot size in cm, you should be able to work out the scale factor from there, and scale the model accordingly. I can't vouch for the quality of the interior scan into the front of the clog, as the visibility was poor with the scanner. I tried to tidy it up somewhat by hand, but I am not a klompenmaker! This klomp design has a pointy nose (spitsneus) which seems to be typical of klompen from the nothern Dutch regions of Friesland and Groningen. Traditionally, they would be painted black (and sometimes decorated) before wearing them. Tripklompen are designed with a larger opening at the top, and as such are typically fitted with a leather strap to hold them on. I've seen some pictures of similar klompen being fitted with a leather upper section to make them into wellington boots, as well as some that have strips of bicycle tyre nailed to the underside for extra grip.
