Simple Dipole Housing (No Balun)

Simple Dipole Housing (No Balun)

Description

A simple dipole housing with no balun. The body has 5 holes in the bottom for mounting an SO-239 connector with an additional 6 holes surrounding that (3 to weave each element in and out of for strain relief). The cap has a hole through the top to allow the housing to be hung from wire/string. The cap and body thread together with the body threading into the cap so that cap comes down over the bottom of the body. This is an effort to reduce the likelihood of rain/moisture making it's way into the feed line, but coax tape should still be used if this will be installed outside. ###To assemble: - Attach the SO-239 connector to the body using some M3 hardware. - Cut elements to your desired length and weave through the remaining holes (in-out-in) - Solder the elements to the connector - Screw the cap over the body so that the body threads into the cap (past the bottom of the cap) ###Print notes: - Printing the cap at 101% seems to make the threads much more smooth ###Waterproofing notes: - This design is not waterproof as-is. If 100% waterproofing is needed, the body is deep enough that the holes for the elements can be plugged with super glue, and the body can be filled with casting resin. This is probably best done after tuning just in case.
