Universal Scope ARD (Anti Radiation Device) Design

Universal Scope ARD (Anti Radiation Device) Design

Description

This is a Anti Radiation Device design that allows for quick adjustment to fit any size diameter scope. The STL is currently designed is for a Vortex PST Gen II 3-15 with a Scope OD of 2.08 inches. However the IPT is attached to be modified to fit any Scope. The part is designed to be recessed into the scope opening and allow a rubber scope cap to slide over it and onto the outside barrel of the scope and keep everything nice and together. The image above uses a Vortex Optics Defender Scope Cap. This design creates a hexagon rectangular pattern that can be modified to fit any size scope. Change the OD of the ARD to the OD of your scope barrel and change the ID web cutout to Scope ID -.05" ID. This will ensure the proper engagement. The inside face of the ARD is designed for an interference fit with the Scope ID. It has a Taper of the following characteristics to aid in screwing it until it stops. The Taper is a 2 Distance Edge Taper of .0025" for Distance 1 and .0" For Distance 2. Note ensure your scope Barrel is metal to allow the threading to bite into the plastic (However you could experiment with the ID for Scopes that don't have threaded barrels): The OD of the recess that engages the Scope Threads is your Scope Barrel ID + .010" The Web is designed to be printed with .4mm nozzles, better performance will occur with .25mm nozzles and the web can be reduced from .02" to .015" to improve light transfer. If you change the web or the flat to flat distance you may need to adjust the rectangular pattern. Post Process as normal to remove stringing. Consider a Matte filament or spraying the ARD after printing.
