35mm Film Scanner for Sony a6000

35mm Film Scanner for Sony a6000

Description

Details are available here: https://www.alanjhsu.com/projects/film-scanner These are 3D printed and laser cut parts for a 35mm film scanning setup using a Sony a6000 APSC body camera, M42 to E mount adapter, 50mm f1.4 Super Takumar lens, and a Raleno LED panel (https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable-3200K-5600K-Brightness-Photography-Interviews/dp/B087CZ85GV/) The 24.5mm extension part moves the lens further from the sensor, bringing the minimum focusing distance to around 21cm. The hood keeps outside light away from the scan and holds the film in plane with the sensor via the film holder print, which can fit up to 5 full 35mm frames. The whole setup is intended to be mounted to a tripod, via the quarter inch hole in the plywood sheets. I used three laser cut eight inch sheets layered for rigidity. The hood mounts to the plywood with two M5 bolts and nuts, and the camera mounts to the plywood with four M3 screws and nuts, with a 3D print designed to attach to a peakdesign capture plate. The front 3D print for mounting the LED panel glues onto the plywood. Print settings don't matter except for the film holder, which should be printed at a finer quality setting, like 0.15mm layer.
