MDR-ZX110 Headphone Mount for Quest 2 MQ2/VQ2 Halo Head Strap
Description
Adapter to mount the Sony MDR-ZX110 headphones to an Oculus/Meta Quest 2 headset while using the "VQ2" style head strap. The head strap goes by several different names depending on seller, but usually can be found by searching for "VQ2" or "MQ2," and the distinguishing feature is a halo-style strap with an additional horizontal top bar with a battery mount (sometimes it is referred to a "helmet" style). Try the medium size adapter first - if you find there is not enough clamping pressure against your ears, you can try the small size, which has a shallower angle to curve the arms more towards the head. If you have a wide head, try the large. The step file is included so you can fine tune tolerances to your preference, or modify the height as desired. I found the top bar to be excessive and bulky and removed it (see below) - I have included an additional file with an alternate hinge piece (VQ2-AltHinge.stl) to still hold everything together (which serves as an alternate location to clip on the headphone adapter. To remove the headphones from the head band, just pry up the little tab holding the adjustment arm in. I did cut/resolder the cables to shorten them but they can just be bundled. The ZX-110s are straightforward to disassemble and modify and it is easy to find various tutorials so I won't go into detail here. To install, hook the lip of the mount around the round portion of the head strap arm, and snap into place. To remove, slide the whole assembly downwards (towards the round portion) and it should pop off.
