QUONSET HUT HO SCALE

QUONSET HUT HO SCALE

Description

This HO scale (1/87th) QUONSET HUT is designed with no roof windows, 2 windows and 4 windows. The corrugated roof section will require pre-bending. Use a 3" diameter glass jar with parallel sides (Ragu spaghetti jar works well) wrap the roof with multiple wide rubber bands making sure it is square and parallel to the sides. In a 275 degree pre-heated oven, TURN THE OVEN OFF BEFORE PLACING THE WRAPPED JAR INSIDE and allow it to naturally cool. This will give a nice set to the corrugated roof curve making it much easier to attach the end walls. The roof windows come with two pieces which are glued back-to-back (smooth side to smooth side) and then the corners are bent 90 degrees and installed. The roof and end walls are printed oversized to prevent the corrugated edges from the troubling mess when the print head is reversing. Draw a line at 1/4" on the bottom of the roof and use a circle template or compass to draw the curve on the end walls.Trim off the 1/4" excess with a pair of sharp scissors, paint and install. I exclusively print with PLA and have found that ordinary clear lacquer thinner (Nail polish remover) is a wonderful glue. Make a small test for yourself of two pieces of printed scrap PLA and give it a try. Let sit for 20 seconds and then try to break it apart. It leaves no residue and is applied with a small brush. I've been using lacquer thinner as a glue on stryene and PLA for years. No sloppy or messy glue to show when finished. If you would like me to design a custom model for you please feel free to contact me at: garylavart@yahoo.com. It is totally free, but I will post it on Thingiverse for others to print and enjoy. Happy modeling, Gary Lavarack - 3Designer
