Circular Sock Machine (CSM) Cast-On Basket
Description
This is a printer-friendly version of the antique CSM cast-on basket. It's an alternative to knitting your own cast-on bonnet. I accidentally printed this at 100% infill. I'm positive it would hold at least 3 lbs on the hook with a lower infill. Your guess is as good as mine, though. Print the basket with the tips of the hooks on the build plate, no supports needed. I did have to print at 50% speed, since the small pieces with short spacing doesn't allow the thermoplastic enough time to solidify. Printing at 100% speed resulted in multiple failures. I printed the hook with the threads against the build plate and a support was used just for the tip of the hook. No sanding was needed for the threads. This was made to fit inside of the 72 hook cylinder on the Mr. Roboto CSM (this basket has 36 hooks).
