120mm PC Fan Centrifuge

120mm PC Fan Centrifuge

Description

Do you have extra PC fans?! (preferable strong ones) Do you also need a centrifuge on the college student cheap?? well then you have found the right project! This is a remix that allows even cheaper sample squishing with much easier to find components This centrifuge is capable of spinning samples up to 6000RPM and providing up to 500Gs of force. I have let this run overnight, and for days on end with no issues. To make this work, Break off the fan blades of your sacrificial fan, power it up on a car battery or other 12v supply and run some sandpaper over the plastic bit where the blades were attached to make it perfectly round and smooth. then try to stick the centrifuge on it. For me, it was press fit on the first print, but some extra sanding on my second centrifuge required the application of electrical tape to make the fit tight. use this as needed. An Arduino can also be used to print the exact speed of the centrifuge, which can be used to calculate your gravitational output with a calculator like the ones on omnicalculator.com this is also helpful to determine if your centrifuge is actually working properly, as the extra electrical load from the additional weight will make your motor draw more current than normal Should go without saying, but don't plug this into a computer afterword's, especially one that you like.... Use a 12v car battery or some other high current source of 12v.
