Crosier (bishop's staff)

Crosier (bishop's staff)

Description

A crosier is a ceremonial staff carried by bishops and other high-ranking clergy in the Catholic Church. It is shaped like a shepherd's crook and is usually made of metal or wood. Crosiers are a symbol of the authority and office of the clergy member who carries them. They have a long history and are an important part of the tradition of the Catholic Church. Bishop Willgis of Mainz also carried such a staff during his lifetime, and so the bishop's staff is a sign of the Willigis Gymnasium. By incorporating the crosier into their visual identity, the Willigis School may be able to connect with the rich history and cultural heritage of Mainz and pay tribute to the important figure of Willigis
