Low profile camera stand (designed for HobbyZone workstation)
Description
I've started live-streaming my model making, and I needed a solution to hold my camera stable with a telephoto lens on it. I have a HobbyZone (hobbyzone.pl) craft workstation, and it is an ideal place to put a camera to zoom in on my work. My previous jury-rigged solution wasn't stable, and the camera toppled onto the desk more than once. So I designed this stand! The dimensions fit a standard module size on the workstation, but there's no reason this low profile stand couldn't be used for any purpose that requires the camera to be very low - lower than a tripod can get. There's a platform to mount a ball head, with cavities to take either a 3/8" 16 hex head bolt, or a 1/4" 20 hex head bolt, to accommodate different sized ball heads. You may need to cut the bolt you use to length to suit your camera mount. I've also included two screw shafts on the back corners, in case the camera and lens you're using ends up too front-heavy. (These were added to the design after I printed the stand in the photos, as I realised extra bracing could be valuable) If you're interested in catching a live stream sometime, you can follow at twitch.tv/neilcreek
