Dual Footswitch for Roland Jazz Chorus
Description
I recently got a Roland Jazz Chorus JC-40 guitar amp, and I wanted to be able to remotely turn on/off the chorus/vibrato effect. I looked at the price of the Boss pedals, and balked pretty hard. My budget for a simple switch is not that high, so I figured I'd make on of my own. Since a stereo 3.5mm cable split to dual mono 1/4" would work well to connect the pedal to the amp, I decided to put a second switch so that I could use with either the distortion or reverb switch inputs. To add a third would require making the unit larger, and would require a second cable to run to the amp - not worth it for me (I did search for a TRRS split to triple 1/4", but couldn't find one). My goal was to make it as simple and as narrow as possible, so it takes up less space on my pedalboard, and prints in one piece. Since audio does not flow through the switches to my knowledge, I didn't worry about shielding or anything of the sort. I didn't mind locating the second switch up top, since I use it decidedly less than anything else on my board, but still nice to have. I ended up choosing to use it with the reverb rather than distortion, but I am not going to reprint it with different text (unless it breaks). For hardware, I got two latching footswitches and a small 3.5mm barrel jack, as well as a long 3.5mm TRS to dual 1/4" TS cable. I found these easily at AliExpress. This should work with the other Roland Jazz Chorus amps, and probably any other amps that use simple switches for toggling functions. You can install different switches than I did, if you need momentary switches, for example.
