Retractable Honda Key Fob
Description
This is a significantly improved version over previous models. The non-retractable versions took up a lot of pocket space. BTW... My Pilot is a 2005. The original key fob is not retractable. This model has internal printed snap springs that hold the key in place. The key is manually extended, and pressed back in place. There is a tab on the back which is depressed, and keeps the key from sliding back into the case when inserting or removing from ignition. It should bounce back out of the way as soon as you stop pressing on it. The side snaps that hold the retracted key in the case, are printed with little pylons to eliminate supports. Gently snap them loose so the snaps can flex as the key slides in and out. Work the key in and out from the outside a few times until you can extend the key without significant effort. Sand the mating surfaces between the top & bottom to eliminate a visible gap. Attach the top with two 3mm x 8mm screws. The little shelf on the left is for the theft prevention chip. It keeps it from falling out of the bottom of the fob, should the lock tab on the back break off.
