Voron 2.4 Huvud CanBus Umbilical Mod v2

Voron 2.4 Huvud CanBus Umbilical Mod v2

Description

Update 18/02/2023 Uploaded a new RH Mount plate and v2 of the Huvud cover. The new mount plate prints easier. The new mount plate has better wiring management. The new mount plate allows for a small 8x8 heat sink to be adhered to the back of the Huvud board to cool the stepper driver on the reverse side. The new Huvud cover allows for better wiring management from the probe and LEDs Voron 2.4 Huvud CanBus Umbilical Mod v2 v2 Upgrades Shield covers are now magnetically held in place for easy access for maintenance with the PCB to include a notch for the fan cable to seat in and stop it from being pinched. Umbilical restraint location shifted to LH side of toolhead and now allows for cable flexibility between the restraint and Huvud board and helps prevent the umbilical chord rubbing on the RH rear Z belt. It also prevents the bowden tube from potentially being tangled (not that I have had that happen). Added holes to the Huvud mount for the thermistor to poke through to the heat sink mounted on the rear of the stepper motor. Please note, this is still a work in progress and files may change. As per Umbilical Mod v1… This is my combination design for mounting the Huvud board Canbus to the side of a Bondtech LGX extruder, with stepper motor cooling, umbilical chord mod removing gantry drag chains, shifting x and y stop switch locations, installing the Euclid probe mod and cable management all at the same time. Whilst the Huvud CanBus control board controls the nozzel temp, extruder, hotend fan and part cooling fan, I have it set up to also control the Euclid Probe, Xstop, NeoPixel RGB's and the stepper motor cooling fan via a PCB breakout board. I have the five pin connecter on the Huvud board extending to the opposite side of the stepper to the PCB breakout board along with this I have one 24v extension from one of the fan jacks to the PCB as well. The stepper motor cooling fan piggy backs with the hotend fan via my PCB, The default is the fan comes on when the hotend fan is on, however, if you want to run the stepper motor cooling when the part cooling comes on just swap the HE-Fan and P-Fan on the Huvud Board along with the pin settings in Klipper. The Gnd/24v fan circuit on the PCB are isolated. I have included an image of the wiring circuit for both v0.61 & v0.62 Huvud boards and the PCB Gerber file of the PCB breakout board I designed if you want to order your preferred PCB manufacturer. See notes below. References: Euclid github for that conversion here... https://euclidprobe.github.io/ Euclid github also provides links to a native mount Clockwork1 X-Carriage which I used. I have since installed the Stealthburner with Bondtech LGX extruder mod. The X-Carriage is with the relocated Xstop location. BOM UPDATED 24/02/2023: JST PH2.0mm male and female connectors. JST XH2.54mm male and female connectors. 1x PCB breakout board as per gerber file. JST PH2.0mm connectors to be used. Cat6 or AWG24 wires from Huvud board to PCB for electrical connections female to female. Length to suit. AWG20 silicon or ptfe covered multistrand wire used for main umbilical power supply. Add connectors each end as required to suit your MCU board. Add Huvud board connector to one end of wiring as required. Add suitable JST XH2.54mm connector to power supply end as required. AWG24 silicon or ptfe covered multistrand wire used for umbilical CANBus wiring. Do not use Cat6 here as it is not flexible. Add Huvud board connector to one end of wiring as required. Connect to RPI CanHat with connector if required. 5 M3x10-12 BHCS for fixing the mounts. 2 M3x25 SHCS for fixing the rear mouting bracket. Cut length to suit. 12 M3 Washers. Add 2-3 washers to the two front screws between mounts to the extruder. This allows an air gap between the mounts and the stepper motor. 1 M3x10 FHCS for fixing the Huvud board mount. Place over head of this screw a piece of insulation tape to avoid any short circuits. 16x 4x2 neodymium magnets. Press these into the provided housings. Use a little superglue if required. 1x 3010 24v fan. 1x 40x40x10mm mountable stepper motor heatsink. Refer to image of type specified. Prerequisites: You are able to edit and run Klipper. You have tools on hand. You can solder. Donations Welcome. PayPal.Me/RedWhere2020. I can provide my huvud.cfg if required, just let me know.
