Game Controller Keepsake Box
Description
My kid had their birthday party at an arcade! I was feeling super nostalgic, was snowed in, and looking for my next project so I decide to over-engineer their invitation! The cover is a press-fit that can be popped out using a pencil (or similar sized poker) via the hole on the box. The hole is a complete channel, sealed with the lid, so anything within won't fall out when the lid is on. At .16mm resolution, the lettering isn't perfect, but it was legible on the MK3S I have access to at work...it was a hot mess coming off of my Ender 3v2. I didn't have time to play with finer resolutions but the slicer suggested they'd look nicer. By the time we were able to get things printed, we were out of time for detailed painting. The paint mask was a momentary stroke of genius (don't worry, my wife makes sure I don't let it go to my head). This and a bit of tape allowed us to paint a couple dozen of these in just a couple of hours. The two (leftovers) I used in the photo were a lesson for us that the air brush can and will spray up under the mask (you can see some decolorization on the edges of the lid...so maybe not as genius as I thought, but still worked in a pinch!
