Base-Loaded Compact Vertical Antenna for Elecraft KX2 similar to AX1/AX2
Description
This is a DIY version of the antenna Elecraft sells. You can build these for 1/10th the cost that Elecraft sells them, and they work just the same, and you get the satisfaction of building something cool and functional. The body is the only 3D printed part that you'll need. You also need enameled wire, a 3mm x 20mm screw and 3mm nut, a telescoping antenna with 3mm base, and a BNC connector. This was designed for a specific BNC. It must be the threaded solder cup type. I will have a YouTube video of how to put this together on my channel in a few weeks from the publish date that will show how to make the calculations for the windings. I use an online calculator to find the coil value of a base loaded antenna. Then I take that value and interpolate the number of windings on an 18mm core using 20AWG enameled wire (.81mm length per turn) to find the required inductance. These two links should do the trick. That's not my website, and the advertisements can be interesting. https://m0ukd.com/calculators/loaded-quarter-wave-antenna-inductance-calculator/ https://m0ukd.com/calculators/air-cored-inductor-calculator/ My YouTube is http://youtube.com/@w1rcp The videos on how to make them should be posted by May 2023.
