Infento compatible rim for 8.5” x 2” e-scoote tyres
Description
Tube tyres of the dimension 8.5” x 2” are very cheap and widely available for e-scooters and baby strollers. With this 4.5” rims you will complete them to comfortable air filled wheels that are a good alternative over Infento’s solid rubber 7” wheels (though not identical in size). Due to the compact size this ~200g part can be printed on any common 3D-printer. The 608 type bearings and the internal spacers can be carried over from the Infento 7” wheels and they will fit 1:1. The rims has also an internal 19mm hexagon profile that is required to transfer torque for braking or driving. The overhangs are limited to max 55°, so you can print the rim w/o any support. I printed with 6 walls, 0.6mm nozzle, 0.3mm layer height, outer walls first for the sake of dimensional accuracy, 15% infill. I recommend to print a sample of the internal hub section to check to check dimensions and eventually adapt hole offset. Furthermore, high nozzle temperature for optimal layer adhesion, and high bed temperature against deformation of this rigid piece. I didn’t check out the limit for inflation. I went no higher than 2.4 bars (35psi), which was the specified limit for my very tyre. This worked out fine. I paid €12 for a set of 2 tyres and 2 tubes including shipping.
