Voyager 1/2 L3go Compatible MOC

Voyager 1/2 L3go Compatible MOC

Description

From over a billion miles away, I bring you my very own Voyager MOC! Launched in August (Voyager 2) and September (Voyager 1) of 1977, these two spacecraft, in conjunction with the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes and the New Horizons spacecraft, have become the farthest man-made objects to leave our Solar System. Despite being over 15 billion miles away or so, we can still communicate with these two probes, probably until the end of the decade. Voyager, in fact, was only supposed to last 10 years or so - instead, it has lasted for almost 50 years! The Voyagers are powered by an RTG (radioisotope thermoelectric generator) which provides power in the form of heat from the radioactive decay of plutonium-238. Humanity has placed a time capsule of our beautiful blue and green home on the probes. A Golden Record contains several things from Earth, from greetings in several languages, animal sounds, and even Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode." As of right now (April 2023), Voyager has begun to fly towards the Oort cloud, the predicted "cloud" of ice that signifies the end of our solar system. Voyager won't reach this until 300 years. It is, however in the heliopause. ***See my homepage for scaling instructions. This model will most likely need supports***
