DD Coil modifiable
Description
This project was made for a 15cm diameter coil, if you want bigger or smaller coils just change the x and y dimensions of the STL file (possibly also the Z height if you have to make many winding turns). Piece C allows you to adjust the total circumference of the coil but is not used in the final coil. You can use a hemp string with the length of the circumference to see what the end result will be and to position piece C correctly (with the hemp string taut). The two Ds that form the final coil can slide between them to find the point of best metal response. When the best response point is found, the two coils can be glued together (one is the transmitter and the other the receiver) and a possible lid can be made with an attachment to attach it to a rod. The transmitting coil is not shielded, just put tape around it to keep the coils in place. The receiving coil must be shielded (shield not closed at the ends of the turn) and connected to the ground of the circuit. I made this shielding tape from an ethernet connection wire, on one side it conducts the current (the silver one) and on the other side it is insulating (the blue one). It is important that the part in contact with the coil is insulated, otherwise with the tester you will have 2 different measurements between the transmitting coil and the receiving one. If you don't have this type of tape available, you can first put some electrical tape on the receive coil and then put the shield made with ordinary aluminum foil and the ground wire wrapped around it.
