The Plumed Serpent (Quetzalcóatl)
Description
Well-Known Both For Its Acknowledgment Of San Jose'S Cultural Heritage And For The Fact That It Strongly Resembles Fanged Poop, The Plumed Serpent (Quetzalcóatl) Is A Cast Stone Sculpture Designed By Artist Robert Graham And Commissioned By The City In 1994 The Original Sculpture, Too, Is A Product Of Art And Machines. It Was Cast Using Large Pieces Of Cnc'D Foam Shaped From 3D Data Captured Of The 11.5" Tall Clay Original. My Process Was Not Nearly As Artisanal; I Took A Number Of Photos With My Dslr, Fed Them Into Photoscan, And Cleaned Up The Results In Blender. Even Still, It'S Fascinating How Technology Continues To Intersect With This Ancient Symbol, Shepherding The Past Into The Future. -Nos Http://Www.Robertgraham-Artist.Com/Civic_Monuments/Plumed_Serpent.Html Http://Www.Sanjose.Com/Underbelly/Unbelly/Sanjose/Quetzy/Quetzy.Html
