Building Dice Box (For 16mm Dice)

Building Dice Box (For 16mm Dice)

Description

This box holds 16mm dice, and also doubles as a building for small-scale miniature games. I tried to make it as efficient as possible while being as easy to print as possible. To that end it is broken down into small pieces that don't need supports and are easy to glue together. I have included several sizes for each part, allowing the building to be constructed in different heights and hold different numbers of dice. The photos show two buildings which hold 26 dice each; just enough for a two-player game of Monpoc. I printed these two on a Robo R2 with a 0.4mm nozzle, using PLA at 0.2mm layer heights. I did not use a raft; the corners on the grey building lifted off the build plate slightly so I re-adjusted the height and had no issues with the later white building. I painted the windows using metallic blue acrylic paint; I applied a gloss varnish to the windows first on the white building to get a smoother finish. The rest of the buildings are unpainted. The photos also include a demo building printed in clear PLA, where you can kinda see the dice through the windows. Painting the walls and keeping the windows clear could be interesting.
