TI99 FlashROM99 shell (Romox style)

TI99 FlashROM99 shell (Romox style)

Description

This is a custom shell designed to fit the FlashROM99 by Ralf Benzinger. His PCB is so large that it does not fit a standard TI cartridge shell. However, it was discovered that Romox cart shell will fit his board. The problem is that Romox carts are somewhat rare and, as a result, expensive. I got tired of seeing my FlashROM99 board lying around without a shell, so I designed a Romox replica shell. I did not have a Romox cart to measure, so I relied on photos found online along with measurements of my FlashROM99 PCB. Therefore, I cannot consider this a Romox cart replacement shell, although it may likely work. I just have no way of verifying it. I would love to have some accurate measurements of actual Romox cart shells, so please if you have one, contact me. I will update this model. Included with this model is a label I designed to fit the shell. You will have to cut/punch the holes for the button and LED. If there is any demand for it, I can have some labels professionally printed. I recommend sanding smooth the area where the label will stick as it prints a little rough with the stair stepping on that diagonal. The top shell piece will have to be printed with supports. I had some trouble with my print of the top shell piece. The back part of the shell wanted to lift up. I mitigated it a bit with some tabs that sort of help anchor the piece to the print bed. That need to be snipped off after the print. It might help to print the piece slower and slow down the fan that blows on the part as it prints. Or maybe there is something clever you can do with supports. Lastly, I am labeling this a work in progress (WIP), mainly because I do not have accurate measurements yet. Also, I modified the shell snapping tabs after making my own print and I have not tested it yet. I am confident it will work well though. If you print this, please let me know so I can change the status.
