Anycubic i3 Mega S/X Extruder Cover With Viewport

Anycubic i3 Mega S/X Extruder Cover With Viewport

Description

This is a very simple remix of CoreyFischer's model. All credit goes to him. It is a cover for the stock extruder for the Anycubic i3 Mega S and Mega X printers (titan clone). It has a small viewport to make it easier to load filament. I liked the idea of this because it didn't seem to have any real downside (I can still print flexibles etc) and I do occasionally have times where the filament is particularly stubborn about feeding correctly, so this helps. I've done the following to it: - Increased clearance around both the screw head and screw shaft of the three screws that hold the cover on - Decreased the size of the viewport because the original way it was done seemed kind of flimsy. I was motivated to do this because I had an issue where the extruder cover flexed or warped in a way that it wasn't holding that big gear properly and then I was suddenly underextruding and had to do some troubleshooting. I think it was partly because it flexed too easily to begin with because of the size of the viewport, but the fact I used PLA was possibly also a contributing factor. The extruder doesn't get hot, but it does get a bit warm and it doesn't take much for PLA to get soft. I recommend printing this in PETG or ABS using a layer height of 0.2 or better. (I printed one at 0.3 and it worked, but it wasn't great) Supports are also a good idea for the screw holes, but it can technically be printed without support as it's a pretty small area to bridge.
