FERA German fire direction radar
Description
A model of the German FERA (Feuerleitgerät Raketenartillerie) fire direction system for the rocket artillery system LARS and LARS 2. It was derived from the CONTRAVES FIELDGUARD radar system, making it possible to adjust fires with the rocket artillery. Each LARS battery had two of these radars. Prior to the actual target engagement, up to four radar reflecting rockets were fired. FERA tracked the rockets and calculated the correction necessary due to meteo impacts. This model is in 1:100 scale. For scaling purposes: the real system was 7,63 m long. FERA was out of service in the early 2000s.
