Interceptor Mech
Description
Designed with one purpose in mind, the Interceptor Mech has one of the highest top speeds of any mech. To this end, sacrifices in modular hardpoints and armor had to be made in order to decrease frame weight. The result was a mech that excels in long range operations such as hit-and-run missions and frontline patrols. This mech design is a favorite of Earth defense force aces and bandit groups alike despite its relatively large turn radius when in hover mode. Gliding across the open icy tundra or the vast hot deserts, the Interceptor Mech design is armed with a high powered laser cannon, shoulder mounted missile launchers, and a sword for close combat encounters. Wow, this past semester of college was hard. Didn't have any time for 3d printing/modelling at all. Glad I finally have time to get back into it now. The main goal I had when designing this mech was to experiment with how I can utilize my new shoulder design to create new interesting silhouettes for my mechs. I also wanted to create a mech that was on the skinnier side as my previous works tended to be more on the chunky side. I couldn't decide on which head design I liked best so I have included all 3 here. My main inspiration with this mech was the Armored Shrikes from Blue Gender and the Mobile Suits in Iron Blooded Orphans and how they seem to "slide" around on the ground in the anime, but it seems that Silent Hill's Pyramid head seems to have snuck his influence into my work as well. The Interceptor Mech was designed with a focus on simplicity, durability, and ease of printing. Joints are achieved through a system of 3mm pins that give just enough friction while also easily removed with pliers (for maximum strength, print these so that the long side of the pin is parallel to the build plate). 3 millimeter ports on the legs and back allow for cross compatibility with most other model kit accessories. I hope you enjoy. Please send feedback as I may create improved versions of the figure in the future. Depending on your printer and plastic, some light sanding and/or tightening of parts may be required. Tightening may be done via thin layers of super glue or multi-surface floor polish.
