This version is meant to be used with a rectangular hygrometer, like this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BYP5XN39/. Visibility of the hygrometer from the camera feed is pretty good, better than it appears in this picture, though if there is room, it could probably benefit from a few degrees of angle towards the camera.
