PA SLX MD-25 AND 3X MAG RED DOT LENS COVER SET (28, 33.5, 34.15, 36.82 MM)

Description

I needed some covers for my PA-SLX-MD-25 RED DOT and PA-SLX-3XMM-PEGASUS Magnifier. So I made these covers. In Cura, I chose monotonic lines at 180 direction parallel to the lengths. 106% horizontal shrinkage factor and 102% vertical shrinkage factor. If I would do it again I may try maybe 104-105% horizontal shrinkage on stock hw of my CE3 V2. I use Geetech black PLA with 0.4 nozzle. Most the rest of my settings are from CHEP FFV5.3_EF(0.28).curaprofile. Make sure you have line overlap otherwise it might possibly be a stringy mess. ***SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS*** Because I chose to link each cover together I learned if you try to bend the strap and it will crack. So what I learned is place the first cover over the red dot then use a lighter to let the PLA bend with gravity as you form the strap then continue to use the lighter to form the last bend to fit the cover on the other end. As long as you move the lighter swiftly and, at a minimum, the print will be ok. For the 3X Mag (PA-SLX-3XMM-PEGASUS) I had to trim a 1 inch section for the cover to sit flush. I used a lighter and a exacto knife to cut the section and it came out pretty decent. Then I used a lighter and a pin to poke holes on the tabs to put some old ear plug plastic cord to tie them together. And when I want to remove the covers I pull off the shallower cover off to the site to take it off. I think using a corded rubber band or a gasket like rubber tube would be better but this is what I have laying around. This print can be easily modified to only have tabs on both sides then you'll have a easier installation and removal experience. This was my experiment to see how flexible the PLA can be. If the strap was only a few layers thick it would probably better for flexibility but I haven't dialed in my printer to get the best first layers. Also, TPU would be a great candidate for this print. If I had some I would definitely maintain the connecting strap and find use for another strap with a mechanic hook to hook setup and do without using any rubber cords at all.
