The SCG-1 - The Cheapest, Easiest to Use, and Best Oculus/Meta Quest 2 Gunstock
Description

SCG-1
SCG = Super Cheap Gunstock... Version 1. *Be sure to download ALL files which include a parts list, instructions, print settings, and recommendations.*
Why the SCG?
TL:DR: This gunstock costs **$13.85** and in my opinion bests near every other option out there in terms of reliability and usability. Oh, and perhaps obviously *C O S T*. After years of owning and hundreds of hours of playing VR shooters such as Pavlov, Onward, Contractors, and more, I have been in the constant pursuit of a gunstock that actually... *works*. I have tried various innovative stocks, many of which came from this sire, however many are either too flimsy, unwieldy, expensive, or even all of the above. I've spent a huge amount of money trying various gunstocks and all had shortcomings I hated that ended up with me putting them in the corner and returning to just using my controllers. Most frustratingly, these would often set me back $30-$60 a piece, depending on the model. So, what was I to do? Using my experience and personal taste, I've created an extremely cheap (*Sub $15*) gunstock that is cheaper, lighter, easier to use, more natural, cooler, more fun, more portable, and more maker friendly than every other stock I've tried. It uses easy to source parts and is designed to be easily printable, durable, awesome, and light.
Features
In this gunstock, the firing hand is attached to the gunstock using the ring on the controller. Not only does this mean tracking is never occluded, it also means that your firing hand never slips back or falls off during a firefight. The gunstock is light enough and balanced enough that pistols are still easy and natural to use. The firing hand can also very easily be removed from the stock at the end of a play session or if you're switching to a different style of game. Simply unclip it from the mount and take it off. The front hand is left unattached from the gunstock. To engage the grip on the gunstock, you simply place your front controller onto the front grip of the stock. This is not only more natural than magnets or cups, but faster, easier, and more reliable to find. No more fumbling around looking for the bar. No more yanking off your controller. No more missing the cup and breaking it. You just grip the gunstock like you naturally would. It's super stable and feels great in the hand and is very, very natural. Your front hand is also left completely uninhibited to throw grenades, reload, grab maps, make mean hand gestures at your teammates, rack slides, cycle bolts, adjust sights, etc. Not that your firing hand can't do that anyway, it's just even easier with the front hand. If you are left handed, good news - all you have to do is mirror the Front Hand Grip.stl and the FHG Pica Mount.stl in your slicer. That's it.
Parts Required
- 1x 3/4in x 36 in Aluminum Angle 1/8" thick - 4x M3x5 Brass Inserts - 1x M3 x 16 Button Head Screw - 2x M3 x 25 Cap Head Screw ==================================================================== This project may still be in its early days but I have been through many kilograms of filament testing and fine tuning this model to be as good as it can be before it's public release. That being said, it certainly is not perfect. I am a young and very amateur modeler and engineer utilizing sketchup, which is primarily for architecture, to create very complex designs. Should you want something changed or improved, I have left the model open to remixes - Please feel free to remix away however you want! That's the beauty of Thingiverse, and our maker community as a whole - we all work together to make a great thing even better. I will also be checking the comments diligently to help out in any way I can. If you enjoy this model, please let me know, that's why I made it - for you! Post a make, help each other out, and enjoy your games :) PS: I'm posting these files for free because I make things for people to enjoy them. Please do not sell my models. If you feel inclined to tip me, my PayPal is on my profile, but nothing is expected, ever.
