Harbor Freight Trim Router Drill Master 3018 Upgrade 30,0000RPM, Z axis assist,
Description
Bought Harbor Freight Trim router for 15$ and a 10$ speed controller. Plugged into a 220V to can achieve speeds of over 40,0000RPM, needs a Ryobi collet nut M14 -1 and collets (zip router collets work but the collet nut does not) used two 500gm springs instead of upgrading z stepper with V groove pulley wheels to reduce z axis load from 1450gm to less than 450gm, also positions load over 20-20 extrusions, added 8 wheels to snap into the 20 - 20 extrusion, instead of linear bearings. Total build cost me less than 50$. Some estimates on the (8mm or 5/16") threaded rod lengths and angles. used 1.5mm steel to reinforce z/x carraiage, used 45mm bearing in mount, also added spacer in between x axis bearing to distrubute the load. You lose 10mm on z axis about 25mm on x axis and 20-25 on y axis. I designed wheel mounts to squeeze and snap in place. Using polymax PC don't know how well the desgn will work with other plastics I and used Carbon Fiber PETG for mount. Preferably used Priline super hard CF/PC if you can aford it , or another CF plastic, (PLA will melt) it's about 250gm mount. Flir images of 30,0000rpms no increase in heat from 26,000 its aprox 18volt increase 138V. Aluminum mills nicely , steel did well with speed tiger bit 1/8" at 30,0000 .2mm step down 50mm/min. springs are coiled spring steel, sold as automatic door closers on Ali Express 500gm , then pop out of shell, mount them on M8 bolt , drill out 3.5mm whole and slice in a half the bolt.
