'97 Diahatsu Hijet 6.5" Door Speaker Mounting Ring
Description
This is a 6.5" speaker mounting ring that I designed to go into my '97 Diahatsu Hijet doors. Note that the window does not interfere with this location and there is plenty of depth for fairly deep speakers. I used these for the generic 6.5" car speakers, but am working on designing dash mounted enclosure for mids and tweeters. I will post those files once they are designed. I would recommend that you add some sound deadening to the inside of the doors. I also installed some “Recoil SPB65 Foldable Silicone 6.5" Car Speaker Baffles” to prevent moisture from running directly into the speakers. I did trim off the fronts baffles leaving the front face flat for easy mounting. I also included spacers that can be used to help level the nuts on the back side. These are a bit of a pain to work with. They are not labeled so make sure to keep them in the same order as the print. I stuck them to a piece of duct tape to hold in position, then I peeled them off as I used them. These may not be needed but some of the nuts are at a 45 degree angle so they help. The step files contains the door panel model, so you can use this to design your own mount or modify this one. It is a pretty accurate model, but any inaccuracies are filled by the adhesive. Material: ABS Infill: 50% Add a couple extra walls Instructions: 1. Press in 2x M4 nuts to the low profile hex holes on the back 2. Heatset 2x low profile M4 inserts (M4-0.7 x 4.7mm Depth) 3. Heatset 4x normal profile M4 inserts (M4-0.7 x 4.7mm Depth) 4. Tape the backs of all of the holes with threaded inserts (8x) 5. Hold up to door and find the correct position, then trace the inside with marker 6. Cut out the hole (slightly oversized) 7. Use the print as a template to drill the 8 mounting screws (enlarge afterwards) 8. Cover the back of the print with white paintable sealant adhesive and press into place 9. Use Flat Head M4-0.7 x 25mm long screws to attach using spacers and locknuts on the inside of the door 10. Wipe the excess sealant off of the print and door 11. Install the speaker trim, optional silicone speaker sleeve, speaker, and grill
