Hive Catterpillar/Butterfly
Description
I invented a new double-sided Hive piece. On one side there is a catterpillar and on the other a butterfly. The rules are: - The piece must enter the game as a catterpillar. - The catterpillar moves the same way as the beetle (it can move for 1 and it can climb onto the hive). - When the catterpillar is on the hive, it may turn into a butterfly. In that case the player has to use one turn to flip the piece. - The butterfly can fly anywhere (even into 'holes') and carry the first piece under it, with it. - The next round, after the butterfly flies, it dies. The piece is returned to the player's hand and may be played again as a catterpillar. At this point the piece that was under the butterfly may move/do actions again. This is meant to mimic the way catterpillars in real life tend to climb somewhere high, form a cocoon and then turn into a butterfly. When playing with the mosquito: - If the mosquito copies the catterpillar, it may climb onto the hive and remain a catterpillar as long as it is on the hive. It may proceed to turn into a butterfly, fly anywhere with the first piece underneath it and then die. In that case it is also returned to the player's hand. - If the mosquito copies the butterfly directly, it may also fly anywhere (but with no piece underneath it and it also dies on the next round).
