eGo Arc Reactor Power Center
Description
This is a "Battery Center" that bucks the voltage of our eGo Lawn Equipment Batteries down to 12VDC. This allows me to use our various eGo Weedeater/Leaf-Blower/Mower batteries to recharge our iPhones while camping, or during power outages due to Hurricanes (We live on an Island just off the South East Coast, and the power is "Iffy" pretty often). It will also let me plug-in our Pure Sin-Wave Inverters and UPS Units to extend the battery life of those devices, without having to hit the remote start on our 10KW Inverting Generator. I used a simple "YAXIGE" DC-DC Buck Converter (from Amazon) that accepts input voltage from 36VDC to 96VDC, and bucks it down to a 12VDC output at 30A(MAX) (360Watts MAX). The Battery Contacts are each made from a few strips of pure Nickel battery-connector-material (used for connecting older-style battery packs in Parallel or Series), with the thin Nickel Strips soldered together for strength. My contacts stick out the front of the Arc Reactor ~17mm, and are 1mm thick (the factory contacts in the eGo Battery Charger are 17mm x 0.88mm thick). I used two stainless steel M3 bolts to attach the Buck Converter's ring contacts to my homemade "Nickel" battery contacts. The M3 Bolts screw into M3 Barrel Nut Inserts. You can attach any output ports to the front of the unit that you wish. I used a set from Amazon that has a digital voltage read-out, a USB-A Charge Port, a USB-C Charge Port, and a separate standard 12VDC car 'cigarette lighter' port. I've got about ~$35.00 tied up in the entire thing including 3D Printer Filament, and a coat of Fire-Retardant spray on the PLA model (Hey, I had it handy, so why not?). The entire unit works VERY well!
