Chassis adapter block for Sn2 Brookville locomotive
Description
Adapts a Toma HOn3 (10.5 mm gauge) super-slow drive unit to fit into a scaled-up version of the HOn30 Brookville locomotive designed by Chris33333 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5022124) to make an Sn2 gas-mechanical locomotive. The original HOn30 Brookville body shell was designed for a Toma 9 mm gauge drive unit with a 12 mm wheelbase and 6 mm wheel diameter. I built an Sn2 version using this adapter together with the 10.5 mm gauge Toma drive unit with 16 mm wheelbase and 7 mm wheels. As of September 2023 this drive unit is available at https://tomamw2.com/products/6411. For my Sn2 version, I scaled the width and height to 136% for S scale, but only scaled the length to 133% to get a wheelbase of exactly 16 mm. This adapter would also work if you simply scaled all three dimensions to 136% for true S scale. The adapter is a press fit for both the Toma drive unit and the printed locomotive shell but it would be a good idea to secure the chassis to the adapter with either glue or double-sided tape.
