Novelty Chore Spinner - "What to do?"

Novelty Chore Spinner - "What to do?"

Description

This is something that was really common in the lakefront vacation cabins I stayed at as a kid. At one time, you could find these in any small town tourist trap trinket shop, but I haven't been able to find one in decades. So, as a reasonable person with a 3D printer, I had to make my own. It's a "Chore Wheel" usually labeled "What To Do" and you would twirl the spinner to see if you should wash the car, or go skiing that day. Lo and behold, it would always land on something fun and not chore related. For this project, you will need some hardware: (1) 9mm x 4mm bearing - I got mine from a fidget spinner, they look like these https://www.amazon.com/Donepart-695ZZ-Bearings-Shielded-Miniature/dp/B07X9T9JKM/ref=sr_1_4?crid=16JV2ML4OIX2J&keywords=13mm%2Bmicro%2Bbearing&qid=1694781715&sprefix=13mm%2Bmicro%2Bbearing%2Caps%2C103&sr=8-4&th=1 (10) 5/8" x 1/8" craft magnets. Neodymium magnets are too powerful for this project, so choose ceramic ones. I got a pack of 10 from Home Depot for a couple bucks- they look like this: https://www.amazon.com/CMS-Magnetics-Ceramic-Magnets-Disc/dp/B000UE9I8G/ref=sr_1_3?crid=HZX2DCUDJETY&keywords=hobby+magnet+5%2F8%22&qid=1694785115&s=industrial&sprefix=hobby+magnet+5%2F8+%2Cindustrial%2C98&sr=1-3 (1) 3/16" x 1 1/4" long machine screw and nut as the axle (1) drywall anchor for mounting on a wall (1) small tube super glue Print out all the pieces. You'll need (8) hole plugs to plug the holes behind the magnets. You'll need super glue to glue the magnets and plugs, the face of the spinner, and the bearing retainer ring in place. Don't forget the spinner uses 2 magnets as well! The tricky part is remembering to place the magnets in the correct orientation to make the spinner arm land on the good chores and be repelled by the bad ones. Sorry, the magic is ruined - there's also no Santa Claus.
