Squirrelicane v8.5

Squirrelicane v8.5

Description

DANGER - Print at your own peril. As promised, another version of Squirrley... this is 8.5 (I am working on 10.3 currently). This version of the bot took third place in a tournament, so it's got some chance of doing something. Warning, the ring won't fit on some smaller printers. It does print (well) on an ender 3. Be prepared to print extra rings... you will need a new ring every fight or so... they are somewhat fragile because they need to be printed light to make weight. DO NOT USE PETG (SHATTER!!!!) I would suggest Duramic 3D PLA+ in the colors as shown... the colors are chosen for impact resistance and temperature resistance. You need to print 4 motor mounts, 4 wheels 4 bushings and at least one of each of the other parts. (choice of lid) I would suggest skipping the printed bushings and get a piece of 5mm OD 3mm ID aluminum tube and cut 4 pieces that are 11mm long instead... but the printed bushings do work for a fight or two before you need to replace them. Duramic 3d PLA+ https://amzn.to/467fwQk I have tried a LOT of different PLA+ but Duramic is best for impact resistance by a long shot. ABS and PETG are not nearly as durable either. I dunno what magic powder Duramic is putting in their mix, but it tests at least 50% better than other PLA+ for impact resistance. It also has a slightly higher glass and melt temperature... prints very nicely at 225 60 Other needed parts: 4x n20 motors (2 per side) https://turnabot.com/products/high-power-n10?variant=40166099943489 1x 2205 brushless motor (lower kv is better) You need to cut off the screw on the top of the motor with a dremel) https://amzn.to/44VB1Cv 4x 21.5mm v-wheels (like the ones used on 3d printers https://amzn.to/3rgNWRM 1x 20a brushless esc (one you can program is best, like a blheli) https://amzn.to/3sZzRZt Bushing tube: I haven't tried carbon fiber, but it might work just as well https://amzn.to/3Lravdp //version a - best weight savings// approx $50 1x Malinki HV nano receiver/esc combo (Flysky protocol, but works with a jumper 4:1 module too) ( https://turnabot.com/products/mni-hv ) //version b - cheapest// $20(ish) 1x 5ax2 brushed esc ~ $10 (aliexpress) https://amzn.to/3Rr8ly7 1x FS2A receiver (Flysky, or whichever lightweight cheap) pwm you can use) ~$10 (aliexpress) https://amzn.to/3PKgT1X plus you need a bunch of m3 screws between 6 and 20mm long... just get an assortment box. https://amzn.to/3PkYJlR I would suggest putting a buffer between the motor and the chassis. I have used both fiber-paper washers ( https://amzn.to/3RnPWCg ) and silicone drone motor dampeners ( https://amzn.to/3LoAWQM ) It's not a cheap bot... you will burn out brushless motors and escs... I run mine on 3s, if you run 2s it won't be as Squirrlicaney, but it will last longer. You will need a 450mah battery... I use the fullsend brand, and I haven't had to replace the batteries in 2 years. I use a powerswitch by @tymcneer (discord) of Brass Monkey Customs... but you can cut it out and model in a different switch if you want... Ty's switch is very light weight (less than a gram) plus an m3x8 shcs... super simple and light weight. This bot is,,, unpredictable and dangerous. do not use outside of an enclosed test box or arena. This is NOT a beginner level bot. It will frustrate you. It will make you cuss. It could bite you... but it is just f***ing awesome to drive and explode. Good luck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQG8b9YWBzM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eXy72yNVYg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNd04hLlKRo&t=34s
