Housing for Camtraption PIR Motion Sensor V2

Housing for Camtraption PIR Motion Sensor V2

Description

Disclaimer: The project is still a work in progress. I'm publishing it with the idea that it might help someone to create or improve their own. The model is not 100% waterproof (yet), some adaptations may be necessary. I wanted an effective, adjustable detection device for use with my DSLR and hybrid cameras for wildlife photography. After looking at the various PIR (passive infrared sensor) detectors available, I decided to go for one from Camtraption : https://store.camtraptions.com/products/pir-motion-sensor?variant=12965726421075 Being a bit broke, I couldn't afford the complete PIR MOTION SENSOR V2 or V3. Instead, I bought only the motherboard on Ebay, without any housing, and decided to create my own to be 3D printed. For the box, I based myself on zx82net's excellent "Customizable Rugged Waterproof Box" : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3338826 The model consists of 3 main parts: The bottom, in which we place the motherboard, with the PIR sensor protruding through the slot. The middle is used to lock the motherboard in place, and to support the battery cases. The top closes the case. In this way, the motherboard is protected and the batteries can be accessed easily. I didn't have any flexible filament or rubber, so I didn't use the seal, but you need one between the top and bottom of the box (see zx82net instructions). To minimize problems of water infiltration and humidity, I've opted for plugs or left the knobs inaccessible. I've marked their position in the 3D model. The holes can either be drilled or retrofitted in a 3d software. A solution must be found to make them waterproof. Feel free to suggest modifications or to edit the 3d model. The model was designed with Cinema 4D, the c4d file and supplied as a .rar file. ////////////////////////////////////// Size references : PCB Length: 89.4 mm Width: 56.6 mm PCB thickness: 1.5 mm Thickness PCB + Capacitors: 15.7 mm PCB + Capacitors + Battery thickness: 29.9 mm Large holes : Diameter: 5.4 mm Large holes : Radius: 2.7 mm Medium Hole: Diameter: 5.3 mm Medium Hole: Radius: 2.65 mm Small Holes : Diameter: 4.7 mm Small Holes : Radius: 2.35 mm Small hexagonal holes: 2.0 mm diameter Notches on side: 2.8 mm Buttons length: 16.3 mm Buttons width: 6.4 mm Buttons thickness: 3.8 mm Sensor: square: 23.6 mm Sensor: diameter: 23.6 mm Sensor: radius: 11.8 mm Jack input (large) diameter: 3.9 mm Jack socket: 7.1 mm diameter Batteries : Length: 90.2 mm Width: 57.5 mm Thickness: 16.3 mm -------------------------- 3D printing : Large left hole radius: 3.2 mm Medium left hole radius: 2.9 mm Small left hole radius: 2.0 mm
