Resin Bottle Mixer

Resin Bottle Mixer

Description

This is a resin bottle mixing machine I made to mix flexible resin with a standard resin. Specfically white Richo-Opto white with 3d Materials SuperFlex. I found that the white resin pigments are very hard to mix by just shaking. With this machine, I mix the bottle for a minimum of an hour with the two different types of resin. It thoroughly mixes the resins and once I did that, i only have to put it on the mixer for about 5-10 minutes before using it again. Motor was purchased on Amazon. I also purchased a speed controller, but this motor does not work with it, even though Amazon recommended it with the purchase. IT does function as a on off switch, so I decided to just keep it. You will need a power cable and a cotter pit to hold the motor gear on. You could also use a set pint or a set screw. For the power cable, I just cut off the end of a old computer cable and stripped the wires to attach it to the motor. You'll also need some screws to mount the . Links below. There are 2 different bases in my .STL files. one with a bracket to hold the "speed controller" and one without. Print all gears and roller guides large flat side down. I printed this with a .6 nozzle, 1.2mm line width and a .3mm layer height. With the rollers and the bases, print a 20-25% infill. Print all the gears and roller guides with a minimum 50% infill and 4 outer, upper and bottom layers. After you assemble everything, put a little bit of bearing grease on all the roller contact points and the gears. You don't need much. Also, put this on a terry cloth when your using it. The gears do make a little noise, so with some kind of isolator under it will help with that. If you have the time, you could also get some rubber isolators and screw them into the bottom for a more permanent option. You can install some o-rings on the bottle to help with traction. O-Rings can also identify while bottles you use for mixing different resins together too. I used some spare hose on the rollers too to help with that as well. The rollers are a little over 2", So a 2" ID hose works best. You can get rubber hose or silicon hose from your local auto parts store, Amazon or ebay. Use soapy water and slide it right on.
