SFS V2.0 Pivot Mount

SFS V2.0 Pivot Mount

Description

This is a mount for the BigTreeTech Smart Filament Sensor V2.0 to attach it to an aluminum extrusion. It uses a 608 bearing to pivot, reducing drag, lateral tension on the extruder, and possible rubbing against cables and other parts. ## Update 2023-10-23 Reworked some parts to improve chances of a successful print under adverse conditions. Added a rear support bracket in case the slot mount hole prints too loose. ## Update 2023-10-22 Fixed an issue where certain mounting positions would cause the SFS mount plate to pop out of the slot mount after extended use. # Assembly ## Required materials: * The hardware supplied with the BTT SFS V2.0 * At least 2 M3x5 screws * The same number of T-nuts * One 608 bearing ## Steps: 1. Attach the "SFS Mount" plate to the BTT SFS using the screws from the hardware kit. 2. Insert the bearing into the "Slot Mount" plate from the back side.* 3. Line up the pegs on the SFS mount plate with the middle of the bearing, and press the two assemblies together.** 5. Attach the slot mount plate to the aluminum extrusion using at least two screws.*** ## Notes: \* This should require firm, but not excessive pressure. Someone with average hand strength should just be able to pinch the two together with just a thumb and forefinger. If it requires significantly more pressure, check the dimensional accuracy of your printer and/or increase the hole size using “Hole Horizontal Expansion” in Cura, or the “Hole” setting for “XY Compensation” in SuperSlicer. If the bearing is too loose in the slot mount, or you want the extra insurance, print the "Support Bracket" which goes between the slot mount and the aluminum extrusion in step 4. ** If the pegs on the SFS mount plate do not hold the bearing firmly enough, you can wedge something between the prongs after adding the bearing to tighten them up. *** There are four holes provided to accommodate different mounting locations and orientations. Choose whichever two (or more) work best for your situation.
