The Nevermore Clock

The Nevermore Clock

Description

Happy Halloween, People of Thingiverse! This is a modular diffuser for a tealight or votive candle. Those cheapo little battery operated candles will also work really nicely. Obviously, if you do use a real candle, make sure it's a good few inches behind it so that you don't melt your clock! When you put this together, I've left you with a couple of options to play with: You use only the gear gobo, only the face, or you could possibly design your own gobo insert- Maybe a spider in a web or something. if you don't glue it in, it's changeable anyway. If you fit the gobo and clock facing together, the shadows will be sharper and blacker. Turn the gobo around and it softens the shadow slightly and you get a nice parallax effect as the flame flickers and seems to make the gears move. You've got a few choices to experiment with for your own preferences. I printed the clock face with translucent filament from Verbatim. White MIGHT work, I don't know- I've run out so can't test it. Maybe play with the number of top and bottom layers if you want to try it. If you have experience of designing lithophanes, this should be pretty much the same principle. Finishing it off, I just went over the hands and numbers with a black sharpie and the details on the base in a silver one. Included in the uploads is a word document for you reference.
