Lowered Bolster for Aristocraft 40' Freight Cars
Description
This bolster is meant to lower older Aristocraft cars by 3/16". Metal wheels (which are generally smaller) recommended to provide more clearance and bring the total lowering amount to 1/4". Use a hobby saw to carefully cut out the old bolster. A lot of these older cars had the inner floor glued to the lower floor, so it might be a little tricky to remove. Also some of the frame will have to be trimmed as shown in the photos. Install new bolsters with slightly shorter screws. The old screws are too long to reuse.
