Boat Challenge: Infinitely extensible boat
Description
This Boat Design As Shown Can Be Printed Within One Print Volume Of A Makerbot Replicator 2X Printer. However, In Order To Make It More Printable, I Designed It So That It Could Be Printed In Sections. In Addition, One Could Print As Many Parts As Needed To Fill Any Body Of Water, And This Boat Would Hold As Many Coins As You Want. My Boat Can Be Extended Horizontally In Every Direction By Connecting More Base Pieces In A Puzzle Fashion. It Can Also Be Extended Downward By Adding More Barrel Support Frameworks. As Tested, Using Some "Failed" Pieces And Some Pieces That Were Not Of The Latest, Greatest Design, This Boat Held 1 Lb. 3.6 Ounces Of Pennies, Or $2.12. My First Thoughts About Creating A Winning Design Were That I'D Need The Biggest Base Possible To Hold The Most Coins. I Am Also Under The Constraint Of Using A Library Printer. I Am Only Allowed To Sign Up For 2-Hour Time Slots, Although Sometimes I Get To Use The Printer For Longer Periods. My Initial Idea (Floating A Large Platform On Several Large Pontoons) Was Not Original. My Family Used To Own A Boathouse On The Mississippi River Near La Crosse, Wisconsin, And The Boathouse Was A Small Cabin Built On A Platform Buoyed By Several Repurposed Oil Barrels. After Printing And Testing, I Added Some Connectors To The Final Design So That The Walls Would Not Fall Down As Easily. I Used Cats For Connectors Since Cats Are A Symbol Of Good Luck For Sailors. Other Symbols I'Ve Included Are Waves And Fish. This Thing Was Designed By Lori Schaffer, Jbs' Mom, Using My Son'S Account. Really It'S Lori'S Account Because It Is Based Off My E-Mail Address, But He Mostly Uses It. My Design Notes And Work Are Included As Photos Of My Notebook! If You Want To Look At Them, Please Enlarge The Pictures So That You Can Read The Whole Page. This Thing Was Made With Tinkercad. Edit It Online Https://Www.Tinkercad.Com/Things/6Mztyyzxvdi
